Social Media or Email Marketing
I was working with RichThinkers this morning. We were creating some video clips for the web site and U-tube. Fantastic content but more about that in another post. We got to talking about the merits of Social Media relative to Email or other traditional marketing.
This was a good discussion and the more I talk about this the more I realise that both of these media are 2 sides of the same coin.
Email marketing: The key here is to build a list of prospoects that open and read your emails to the point where they ready to buy into your goods or service.
Social Media: The object is to build an image that people want to connect with or follow to the point where they are ready to buy into your goods or service.
It is all back to my usual conversation build relationships to the point where people feel they Know Like and Trust. It is from here that true customer value is created. I understand the email marketing process as it is easier to control the information that we send to the prospect. Social media is more difficult as there is a reliance that prospects is following or watching and no guarantee that they are.
However to build this relationship in both takes time and committment and it is clear that combining the two media will be a powerful tool for small business success over the next few years.
